Rooting Out Prop 8 Supporters

Some lovely person has provided the rest of us with a Google mapping of Prop 8 donors! So you can look at your city or town and find out who it is exactly that bankrolled this nasty bit of meanness and BOYCOTT their businesses. Most of them are individuals but it isn’t that hard to google the individuals and find out which businesses they own – and then shop elsewhere. Literally, connecting the dots!

Bigotry likes to stay hidden, so expect flack from this.  “The Gays are gonna get us!” and so on.  Well, yes, you should think twice before you piss off – and bash, maim, kill, and discriminate against – gay people OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER!  We’ve played nice for far too long.  Each and every queer and each and every ally had better step up to the plate and start playing hardball.  If those Saddlebackers in Orange County have to go out of their way to dehumanize and demonize me and my family – the least I’m gonna do is not give them my business.

This is not a difference of opinion, this is bigotry and hate.  Canada wouldn’t even allow Fred Phelps (“God Hates Fags”, “Matthew Shepard Burn in Hell” and other un-Christian palliatives) in to protest here because it is considered hate speech; the US has invited he and Westboro Baptist Church to the Inauguration.  Many Americans and the US political systems don’t understand the difference between hate speech and free speech.

This deserves a longer exegesis but in the US Free Speech is protected “on the ground” by a ridiculous and disingenuous faux objectivism.  Objectivity, particularly in US public discourse, means that every voice needs to be heard.  That everyone gets to weigh in.  Somehow if voices are shut out then this is un-American.

Jews protested in Skokie, IL to allow Nazis to march in the late ’70s. I used to admire this.  And, even as a twelve-year old I understood the Slippery Slope argument.  But, since 1980 and bombastically since 1994, any regulatory moves (be they financial, social, etc.) have become a threat to Free Speech and American Values.  A prime example is the Supreme Court ruling that political campaign contributions are equivalent to Free Speech.   The more dollars you have (political dynasties, corporations, media multinations, etc.) the more Bill of Rights you get.

However, time and exile have changed me.  A lot.  Is the fomenting and demonization towards a class of people the value intended by the Bill of Rights?  Isn’t it, rather, that reasoned voices participate in the public discussion of issues?  And, if one considers herself ‘reasoned’ then when she is called on her rhetoric she can’t claim that she’s just an entertainer (e.g. Coulter, Limbaugh, et al.).  Most of our issue-based public discourse is done in the context of multinational media conglomerates, who have a bottom-line to meet and no interest in the state of social/public affairs (except as to their bottom-line), ‘objectivity’ becomes a ratings device. This is exactly why Fred Phelps, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly and Rick Warren get dragged out over and over and over.  And gay people and families get maimed, beaten, killed and discriminated against over and over (not to mention shoved into exile!).

Of course, these changes are direct consequences of the 1996 Telecom Act (championed by Al Gore) and the huge decline in FCC regulation (despite nationwide protests and almost no media coverage) under the Chairmanship of Republican stalwart, Michael Powell.

The only reason Rick Warren is at the Inauguration is because he is a notorious media personality who is only to eager to point at us, shouting “Bestiality! Pedophiles!”, etc. etc. etc.  And that brings in ratings.  Who wouldn’t want to gawk at some leather daddy going at it with a goat?  I’ve never seen nor heard of this but I just know it fills the nighttime visions of Warren & Co.  Nobody can wait (and I include the national gay movement here who have done a huge disservice to all of us) to trot out ‘Gay Marriage’ – it’s like rubbernecking at a train wreck.  Who’s going to wear the veil, which one plays the bride and other first grade questions.

Rick Warren and his ilk are not remotely concerned about Christian values – he’s concerned with creating opportunities for the looky-loo media to direct advertising dollars to him.  Unfortunately, Warren and other Prop 8 supporters destroy our families and the dreams of millions.  How un-American and how un-Christian.  But, thanks to this map, he might get some other attention!

Full disclosure: I have seen leather daddies spanked at the Folsom Street Fair. Ouch!

One Response to “Rooting Out Prop 8 Supporters”

  1. Here’s why no Blair House for BHO.

The nation owes more than thanks to three unlikely modern day patriots: professional poker player, musician, and retired attorney, Leo Donofrio; life long Democrat and former Pennsylvania assistant attorney general, Phil Berg; and Soviet emigree and attorney, Dr. Orly Taitz (she’s also a dentist).

While Mr. Donofrio painstakingly established the airtight case that BHO could not be an Article II “natural born citizen” (at BHO’s birth, dad was British/Kenyan, not American, citizen) Leo’s Stay of the 12/15/08 electoral college vote was denied by SCOTUS as procedurally unripe.

Nevertheless, since no congressman and senator objected on 1/8/09 to Congress’ count and certification of the electoral vote which would have turned resolution of Obama’s eligibility issue over to Congress — rendering moot the Berg and Taitz (Lightfoot) cases — Berg finally does achieve standing on the issue of actual harm, to be addressed at the Friday 1/9/09 SCOTUS Conference on Writ of Certiorari. Obama’s failure to submit evidence of his constitutional qualification for the 1/9/09 conference will mean he cannot thereafter challenge Berg’s request to enjoin the 1/8/09 Congressional electoral count and certification, albeit retroactive, scheduled for SCOTUS conference Friday 1/16/09. Moreover, Chief Justice Roberts has scheduled a full Court conference on the Lightfoot case Friday 1/23/09 in the event there needs to be a Constitutionally mandated action, the Inauguration itself, to enjoin retroactively.

Now that BHO is in checkmate and cannot be POTUS, he can be a patriot as well. He need not subject the nation to the expense and trauma of requiring SCOTUS to overrule his ‘Presidency’. BHO can and should voluntarily step down with Biden becoming Acting POTUS under the 20th Amendment, and under the agreement all potential claims by the Government for itself and on behalf of others against BHO are released.
